Anyone seeing any pups in dens yet? They seem to be a bit behind this year. I have talked to guys in Wyo. Ariz.Okl.Ut.and Nev and seems to be all the same. The female we have found are still 3 weeks to a month out.

A friend of mine killed a pregnant female 3 weeks ago. the DNR came down and opened her up. They thaught she was ready any day from the size of the pups.

pacojack-I think they are behind this year as well. I put the stags away mid April and even the last two females I caught showed no sign of pups. May just be a bad year for pups.

Take care.

Thats what I am seeing as well. My little Leapard bitch has brought home 3 fox pups in the last two weeks. The one this morning looks to be between 10 and 12 weeks old. No sign of yote pups yet.

Well, Truck wiped out a whole den of them Saturday. The den is only about a quarter mile from the house and the momma came over for one of the barn cats and truck just happened to be loose and ran her to her den. He had them dug out and killed before I got there. They looked pretty young to me.

I'm out east. We can't run yotes this time of year, but I usually hear pups around me by now and haven't heard any yet. Spoke to a biologist from DEC a couple of weeks ago who said they have collared yotes with pups, but that is a hundred miles west of me. The other night, my hounds got me up at 2:30 am to answer some yotes talking in the hills around me, and I didn't hear any pups then--plenty of adults in all directions, though.

Some use the running breed of hound, July's, running Walkers, Goodman etc. Some use tree dogs of any breed, some use sight hounds and stags, some use Cur type dogs and some use whaterver will chase em. Some folks use dogs to decoy them into the gun. You can go at it in many ways.

Some do go to ground, some just don't stop running and some bay up.
