The dogs are line bred on Salmon River breeding and the Swampland Ruby dog by Kellys Red Buck. I've hunted with dogs from each these 5 generations, and actually some of the sixth generation as well. There is a combination here of the very best dogs hunted by Doc Smith, Randy Shuff, and Dave Williams all from Lemhi County, Idaho.
If you read into it; you will notice an absence of any of the common Plott lines of today; no Ursus, no Nabek, no Pocahantas, no Bluff Creek, and etc. Not to say that there are bad things with these other lines, but just pointing out that this strain is a line of its own.
The young dogs we have out of this cross are 8 months old. In the picture, they were at 6 months old.

THE DOGS LOOK GREAT! I REALLY LIKE THAT LIGHT COLORED ONE WITH THE BLACK SNOUT LIKE SCRATCH HAD. I REMEMBER SEEING ON SMITHDEALS WHEN YOU GUYS WERE BREEDING ACE TO KEEPER. IF YOU EVER HAVE ANY EXTRA ONES I WOULD DEFINETLY BUY ONE. I WILL BE TRAVELLING AROUND IDAHO IN LATE JUNE-EARLY JULY LOOKING AT REAL ESTATE. TRYING TO GET RELOCATED TO COEUR D ALENE BUT MAY SETTLE FOR THE LEWISTON AREA .BEEN WORKING ON GETTING A BLUFF CREEK DOG OFF OF STEVE ,WHILE I STILL LIVE PRETTY CLOSE TO HIM. THEM WISCONSIN GUYS SEEM TO BE GRABBING THEM ALL UP.

Scribner's Ace and my Keeper dog are half brother/half sister related, so they are closely related.
The Salmon River line was Doc Smiths, he is alive and well but he got out of Plotts all together a little over 10 years ago. To say these dogs go back to Salmon River is more correct than to call them "Salmon River". That being said, the cross posted on here goes back to Sam and Missy 8 times. The Keeper dog is out of the last dog that Doc Smith owned.
JD and I just agreed to call them "Idaho Plotts", as with the exception of very few of the dogs in the pedigree, they all made their mark in Idaho.
JD, myself, and a few others are working on keeping this blood line alive. There is another litter on the ground now and I know of another line-bred cross that might be made soon.

I have a plott female that came from a cross made by jason woodward and rick grunch.....she is a very nice dog and really gritty....she was an early starter...100% natural instict needed very little training has made every race she has been put on sence 10mnths old. The rest of the dogs I own are haug/stiles breeding and they are also early starters and very gritty.
