ok last nite we went huntn.it was good but not good.i took my walker pup and a bluetick.but the other guy took two black n tans and a redbone.lil to many dogs but it was ok.we went and one black dog struck then my walker then blue then redbone.we get to tree and my two is circling a lil ways away but still close.one black dog isnt din anything.redbone and black n tan was treeing.so by the looks of it we thought maybe this was a sow with kittens in another tree but checked all trees.nothn but boar in big tree black n red was on.so we thought mine got whooped off tree.ok so we praised dogs n tied them back for my pup to tree on it.this is his third time to tree huntn but 1st time to open on track so i was happy.we went again and he was gettn to excited and treed real quick then blackdog treed.i thought mine was wrong but im not gonna say he was cuz we couldnt see up that tree.so we went further down creek n that black dog ran that track and treed that tree everytime we went farther own creek so finally we went home.this walker shows alot of intrest and so does blue dog.but im wondering if this whooping off tree will harm him or will he recoperate and be fine

it's real hard to say what one bad experience will do to a young hound as they go through different phases growing up. this could easilu ruin him on the tree in a couple different ways or make absolutely no impact. either way i'd never hunt with that hound again. it isn't worth the possible back lash that can accur. it's real easy to get a hound killed in a situation like that. the treeing craze thats bred into some hounds just gets misplaced into aggression. i personally hate to see a slober mouthed tree dog. I know this is totally the opposite of the mainstream thought process. but when a hound has become glazed eyed and foaming at the tree it's so hyped that it looses it's ability to think or learn and is hard to teach. i want a dog that is GAME crazy not tree crazed i don't hunt trees. once a young hound is getting it done fairly well it is often best to hunt it solo or with only one other hound. I hope your young hound is not affected by this and you have good hunting!

i was told this wasnt a tree fighter and she didnt fight the time before it kind of amazed me this time.but i agree il stop that.this other dog i hunt i can only take my female cuz that dog fights males but not females.that man tickles me to death.hes 65 years old puts his walker/bulldog/boxer/wolfhound/unknown in his car that has a tarp asa seat cover for dog hair and turns him loose and only carrys a 9 volt flashlight no tracking system or shock system or even a leash.he hunts every night and can out walk me who should be able to out walk him.but its old men like him you have to enjoy especially when they have an old dog theyv hunted forever and have alot of storys for ya
