Den Tree ?

What is a typical den tree. are they hollow or just fallen over tree's? any help would be great thanks.

In this part of the country den trees are usually hollow oaks. Sometimes there will be another type of hollow tree and on rare occasion a hole in the ground or under a rock.

Our coon also mostly den in big hollow oaks , you can sometimes squall them out by squalling and beating on the tree .

What I've noticed is it depends on what point the weather is at.It seems like when its the rainy season they pick a layed down tree to live in with no openings on top just the sides.When its not wet out they seem to like the trees that are still live.One that they could climb up and go down into.JMO

The ones I usually find are in hollow live cottonwood trees. you will find lots of coon shit at the bottom. your in cedar right? if you ever need a coon huntin pard call me and I'll be there. all my spots in saint george have been swallowed up by the urbin sprawl. my spots up in circleville are gettin killed off by kids with spotlights.
