A northern california mans poaching case was dropped by ther DA. While I dont know all the details I do know some. Here is the first report from the redding newspaper.
http://www.redding.com/news/2009/mar/03 ... rights-to/Heres what finally happened.
http://www.redding.com/news/2010/may/27 ... knife-pig/From what ive come to know about this particular case through the grapevine is that the case wasnt dropped because the DA said the tapes would be a "disturbance" to the jury. It is because the tapes revealed that the testamony already given by the investigating wardens was contrary to what they had recorded in those tapes.
I dont know wether the man accused was guilty or not. I have no opinion on it either way. But this case another example of poor warden work or example of wardens being less than honest in california once again in my opinion.

I do know the man as well and have hunted bears with him in the past. Im purposly not making any opinion on his innocence or guilt because I simply wasnt there and cannot make that judgement. However the law in which he was depredating under does exist. Wether it was being used properly or not it cant say for the same reason listed above.
Funny thing about the DA's reason to dismiss the case, he said it would cause too much of a "disturbance" to continue. After all it was only the second day of the trial. How much "disturbance" would have it caused? The official at DFG said it was "a solid case". Seems they could have made a little "disturbance" and still won if the case was that "solid".
I tend to think if the wardens had to come back and sit on the witness stand after they had already testified they would have beed quite "disturbed" at the discrepancies in their testamony compared to their taped evidence.
I have been cited while using this law and my case was dismissed.
I agree. DFG= antihoundsman

if they are so antihound, you all need to really put the screws to anyone that helps them out when they have problem animals. when they can't get any cooperation from dog hunters maybe they will learn a little humility. even better have your hound hunters groups make official policy statements to that effect along with the explanation why.

UN F'N believable. California is more F'D up than i thought.
If that guy would have done the same thing in NM,TX,LA,and many other states the Game wardens would have patted him on the back and said "well go kill about 40 more GOOD JOB"
