Hunting Jackal in South Africa... What Dog ?

English Pointers
I am a first time member of BGH and am looking for advice on hound selection.
I currently hunt Greywing franclin over English Pointers which I have bred from a consistant line of hunting dogs.
Jackal kills on lambs as sheep have escalated hugely in our area and I have been asked to breed and train jackal hunting dogs.
My question is !!!!!!
Can I use my English Pointers who have fab noses to breed a new line of jackal hunting dogs.
I am looking for comments from hunters with experiance good or bad of English Pointers hunting medium preditors.
