Everything is final for this year. Might get lucky next year but there is no definitive date. But the gps has a treeing switch, so I believe Cal needs to get that changed too before they allow the GPS in general.

It's funny with California because just like purchasing a NOS bottle to boost up your car, you can get in trouble with that. But it is okay for you to purchase the item. Just like a GPS for your dog. You can buy it but you'll get in trouble of putting it on your dog. But people do it anyways. I would buy the GPS and wait to use it or just use it like the NOS bottle in your car. Why spend more on a tracking device that cost $1000 with the collar when you can just get the GPS for $500 to $600. Just my opinion though.

CORRECT. IT'S OK TO USE TRACKING SYSTEMS...JUST NO GPS OR TREE SWITCHES. ALLOT OF US HERE IN CA. HAVE A RUNNING BET........WHAT WILL BE LEGALIZED FIRST TREE SWITCHES & GPS OR MARIJUANA.

BOTH ARE GETTING PUSHED VERY HARD. I'M FOR ONE BUT NOT THE OTHER.

I think mary jane is going to be legalized before GPS and treeing switches but they all do no harm. just to make man happy and Gay which is happy.

Sorry I shouldn't have said that. Man I hate it for you guys. When I look at California I see what every state eventually wants to do.... don't ban it outright to begin with... just make is so hard and frustrating to participate that the majority just quits. Once the population of hunters dwindle down to a mear hard core few they can cut the cord and there won't be enough voices to be heard that makes a difference. It's in every state. One of our problems is other hunting/fishing groups. Bow hunters don't like dog hunters because they run all THEIR deer off. Dog hunters don't like bow hunters because they get to hunt first. Gun hunters don't like bow hunters because they have a longer season. Duck hunters don't like crappie fishermen because they get to close to their decoys. Crappie fishermen don't like duck hunters because they pepper their boats. Hell it's in every faset of outdoor sports. Fly fisher don't like bait fishermen..... Do I really need to go on?? My God... speaking of God... It's my God given right to feed my family. I am surposed to obey the laws of man too. God tells me that all the birds in the skys, fish in the sea, and creatures of land are mine for the taking and eating, food and shelter. As a follower of God and his teachings am I to be descriminated against because I take those words and put them into practice? We don't make other believers of other religions uncomfortable in any form or fashion. When is it our turn to be shown the same respect.... or political correctness that they get??? Maybe we shouldn't make this into a "heritage" or "way of life" thing we do called hunting. Maybe it would be better if we turned this into a "religious prejudice" stand.

Oh lord I've done plum hijacked this thread. Sorry. I'll shut up.

I think you're right on Hunter.........the good thing about the dog hunting in Ca. is that there has been a HUGE explosion of popularity in the sport here. Hell I see a new hunter everytime I go to the woods. It's a good thing because it used to be primarily a bunch of older guys and a few young bucks like me that did all the hound hunting. Every year we lose a few more of the older hunters so it's good to see a new crop coming in.

Although I think out of every 10 new hunters that get in it........only 2 or 3 of those 10 will stay in it for the long haul..

I think would we should be happy with what tracking and what hunting, are bear counts all that stuff. And Stop trying to ask for more chit, end up starting a never ending battle.I was tought that this has always been a listing sport, were we hunt we have listing spots all over,i was tought to stick with the dogs on foot or by knowing the roads and were to get above them to LISTEN Scerw them Gps's and them tree switches they beep fast when the dogs are moving up hill anyways. Stick to were your in listing rang you'll know when there treed. F- them gps's and the bear count if it means loseing it all.

This sport has always been kind of in sider or family thing and will never be as main stream as Deerhunting and duckhunting.JMO

At this point I don't really get too excited over the GPS thing. But then again, I've never used one. I don't really need a tree switch either because I only fox and cat hunt and I can stay on top of my dogs pretty easily. But I will admit, tree switches are handy when bear hunting.
