You can run dogs in AK on Blk Bear. If you ever go there and look at the country it, you would see that it would be near impossible. No roads, horrifically thick brush and brown bears that eat dogs.

The only things you can legally run in Alaska are Black bear and snowshoe rabbits. The bear hunting is awesome, and you'll be the only one doing it. I have an old air force buddy in Arkansas who comes up every year, and came twice last year to train his hounds. Both dogs he sent up this summer did real well, and when they got back to Arkansas the coon hunting was like chasing a frisbee on a golf course - real easy for them. He's got photos on the UKC big game site, look for grizzlymike's alaska trip photos, see if you like the ground.
