I'm pretty sure it's 300' from a road and at least a 1/4 mile from a dwelling. At least in AZ. This would be for a regular gun.

I'm wondering if the same holds true for a high powered airgun? So if ya wanna shoot off a homes back deck that backs a National Forest in the middle of hunting season, in an area that allows hunting, that's unincorporated "no restrictions" would ya be able to? For the times ones a bit lazy

LOL, shot one last night 20 foot from 2 houses in city limits with 9 dogs treed on fence with possum standing at the top of privacy fence around 10pm. It's funny seeing those 8 basset hounds treeing but they will tree game in the trees at house.

I am in the city with city law and ordinances -- the air rifle solved the problem with 9 dogs treeing on the fence with one quick shot........Went from a loud ruckus to quiet dogs to make happy neighbors.

I think you just have to use common sense when firing one in close proximity to dwellings, roads, and such. Been a few times I couldn't take a shot on coon, possum, and etc... because of where they were. I am a pretty good shot, but not a sniper and been known to miss on night shots in trees and don't take chances just in case.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking the airgun gets ya off the hook. I don't think it's considered like a reg rifle.

floating object towed by powerboat or sailboat except
as expressly permitted by the commission. No person
may knowingly discharge any firearm or shoot any other
device upon, from, across or into a road or railway

Air rifles are concidered A device.

I was floating a river duck hunting and just murdering the ducks and geese. I heard sirens getting closer and then saw cops picking their way threw the canes. They had guns drawn and started screaming at me asking what I was doing. I yelled back to either put their guns away or start shooting at the damn ducks. Anyways, I had floated into city limits. They called the game wardens and they showed up and checked me every way possible and then said to the now half dozen cops that I had done nothing wrong. I was in navigatable water setting in a boat and the city ordinience does NOT include the water way. If I had been standing on the river bottom I'd gotten a ticket. If I could have seen the houses (visible dwelling) I would have gotten a ticket. I couldn't see the houses but, later found I was more than 100 yards anyways. The cops said that they were still going to write me a ticket and take my gun. The warden told them that I would have a very legitimate case for a law suit if they did. I hunted that spot many more times and never had another problem.

In NM you have to be 150yds from an occupied dwelling to discharge a firearm. A high powered bb gun can be considered a firearm, but I think most would not consider it a firearm. If you have consent from the owner of the dwelling that waives the distance rule.

Here's another catch a BB gun is not legal to use for hunting in NM
