Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about insurance for hounds and horses or mules used in guiding or outfitting. I was thinking about insurance that would over medical as well as replacement in the event of loss.

farm bureau? I've looked at insurance options before and seen some oddities. the main problem with dogs is it was hard to get a replacement value and reasonable emergency health coverage . with out the cost being way over the benefits and the copay being above most common check ups in my area at least. so i just tell myself I am lucky to have a vet with reasonable prices. horses on the other hand actually seem to be a better animal to insure. I would like to hear more about everyone's experience with animal insurance though. some details would be nice too.

My agent looked for a carrier for me. She look for what I wanted and wrote me a policy. Also did not say it was cheap just best deal. Farm Bureau Works with a lot of farms and ranches so they have access to a lot of differnt polices to look at in the Ag Industy.

Never looked into dogs but horse insurance isnt to bad, but its really not worth it unless your horse is worth 5K plus.

Think it cost us about $700 a year for a 25K show horse. Im pretty sure that it is just for death. Not sure who the carriers is but I will find out papa

Folks,

There are several very good companies out there for both Equines and Canines.

The prices are reasonable for pure Life insurance...for Life with a Health rider a little pricey!

Just Google Equine Insurance and you will get several pages of Companies...same with the Dogs.

Also your Home Owners Agent can usually put a Pet rider (which can cover a couple of Hounds...just not a kennel) for injuries your dog might get.

I keep my Mule and my Wife's Horse insured, $10,000.00 ea...cost less than $400.00 per year total.

Google will get you a good start on finding what you need!
