about 4 days ago. me n my cousin were by some ponds looking for bear. there were a bunch of berry bushes around. so we figured there would be something. and next thing the dogs just blew up. struck a bear off the box. we turned them out and they ran a good 25 yards down the road. then straight up the hill about 500 yards. when we finally got to the tree sure enough there was a bear in the tree. my 7 year old dog BULLET was just a bawling at the tree. the bear was only 15 feet off the ground. the dogs were going ape shi# on the tree. the bear started to freak out and climbed down the back of the tree. my dog ran down. nipped him on the ass then the bear rolled over on him. put a gash in his chest and bit him on the head.when we finally got down the hill to the truck we could hear bullet making a weird noise. so we shined some light on him and his top part of his jaw was hanging down and the bottom was not able to open. he had holes all over in his head. we took him to one of our friends billy trudell. he is good with hounds knows alot about them.and he said it would cost quite a bit to get him fixed and you dont know how his nose would be after that.so we were forced to put him down. he was an amazing dog. older. but full of energy. when you walked up to him to go hunting he would about do a backflip. the only time we was ever sad was when you would leave without the dogs. he tought our younger dogs alot. he was a treeing S.O.B he could tree for hours and hours. all night if he could..so we put him down and barried him in the garden next to the kennel.. after all . all the good dogs should make it home.

Man I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Sounds like one of the great ones. At least he was able to come "home".

thanks. yeah he was a great dog. its pretty tough when you lose a dog like that. but he served his time. we even got to see him on a lion the night before. only took them about 5 mins to tree it. went like 150 yards or so.

hope you got some pups out of him . to many high caliber dogs end up this way without passing it on . sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about Bullet. We had a dog that was about 14 at the time, The bear got shot out and Sky broke the little tree he was tied to down and met the bear head on, the bear rolled with Sky and busted the end of his bottom jaw off. If was pretty bad, we took him to the vet and they stitched it back, but removed the last 3 teeth the poor old fart had.

Not many get to be as old as Bullet and Sky, doesn't make it any easier losing them :(
