There was a person called because they took a pop shot at a cat and didn't know if they wounded it or what, this guy took his hound out and let him out where they had seen the cat. The dog hunted around for a while and then came back. The next day in the daylight the guy called him and said the cat was only 30 yards away from the spot that he walked his dog over to. Would a hound not bark at dead game?

Mine likly would not have barked at that dead cat either...

Once its dead they are done.

They have shown me dead critters but not by barking, if they spend a long time sniffing an area I check it out. Got to be a reason. Found a human body that way once too.

i dont think most dogs would bark at something already dead. i know mine wont. they will prob trail it good but once they got there im sure something not moving isnt going to interest them any.

Thanks for the input, another thing is i probably wouldn't turn loose on a wounded cat, in the dark. At least not alone.
