sacramento mountains need info

going out there on a bear hunt in mid sept wondering if n e body has hunted there.can u ride a horse or mule or is it to rough,whats the temp gonna be then,r there alot of bears,what kind of terrain.never have been there just need some info.

its pretty warm now. You can use equine there and I believe atv's are banned off road. check weatherbug or weather.com to get better temp ranges.

It's not too rough for horses. The temps will vary with location. Just above Alomogordo will be hotter than at Weed. For a reference point, the town of Cloudcroft is 9200' elevation. Just as previously stated, Off road travel by any means other than foot (yours or your horse/mule) is frowned upon by the United States Forrest Service (communist, all controlling branch of course).

If your hunting the foot hills of the Sierras(Auburn, Grass Valley) you might be able to hunt off horseback. Any higher and the only horse I'd have would be Toyota breeding or shanks mare(walk). It depends on exactly where you're huntin.

Think you need to clarify which Sacramento moutains and which part of the Sacramento mountains your going to go to
