anyone else in wisconsin ever get any crop damage bear tags? i heard that a fellow here has gotten 2 tags to fill with 2 more if he fills the first 2. this is not right if you ask me. He is on some conservation boards and knows who to contact and how to get them. not right if you ask me.

Joey,

I've never heard of ag tags for bear. I can't see how the DNR would allow this since it takes a 8 years to get a tag. Why would they give something away when they could charge $49 or $251 for it. I would give either Adrian Wydeven, Jessie Ashton, or your man Cords a call/message to see if it's legit. No sense spreading an invalid rumor.

Is this Dave Hraychuck the husband of state assebly rep Anne Hraychuck. If so and this is legit, there is something awfully fishy going with this situation. Since she seemed to botch the bear bill this spring which she proposed with her being a Dem, with a Dem congress, and a Dem governor.

i have e-mailed Jesse Ashton about it.

it came right from the farmers mouth so there is some truth to it. Also, he said that he has another guy that is going to use one of the tags on another chunk of property right next to his. and if he gets a third tag he is going to give it to a kid up the road to use. No B.S. here. i hope like hell it's not true but it come right from the farmer himself.

AG people ban together and have alot of power. Bear damage to crops is a big loss to the farmer. I don't think you will thuis fight.

i understand it's a big loss to a farmer. the part i am upset about is that everyone else has to wait 8 years to get a tag and now he can just hand pick the people he wants to come shoot a bear. it's not right. the corn field is an 80 acre field. you can't tell me he needs 4 tags. that is all the corn he has. if you only knew the strings that were pulled on this issue.

Yea, Joe, I have heard of them for years, I know they were giving some out in south ladysmith, and the corn country there. Its all private, and farms, kind of a locked in deal, farmers. One farmer told a family member, they killed several bear out of a corn field at the edge of the woods, I belive there was some truth to it, as in that country, the bear will come from way up in the thorn apple country, to get the corn when its to their taste, when i was hunting that area years ago, north of 8, the bear done a vanishing act, figured out that is what was happening. Doesnt the bear application as if your interested in crop damage, pursuit?

yes it does ask on the application and i and every one i know has checked the box to participate and not one has been asked to help. now there is 4 tags for 1 guy to use as he wishes. just irritates me because it's a half mile from my house.

bring the situation to the attention of the local/regional outdoor magazine so that they can bring it to the attention of A LOT more concerned citizens.

I suppose everyone knows this but just in case....At the Wisconsin DNR site they list the bear damage shooting permits. They list the county, first and last name, address and home phone, and date permit was approved. So far there has been 38 tags issued.
