They weren't huge by any means, but here's some pics of the two nice bears we took over my plotts this season here in Cali.The first one was my husbands bear. I just had 2 dogs on him and he treed in less than a half-hour. He weighed 312lbs.

The second one, belongs to my dad (thats not him in the pic tho, that would be my huntin partner, Daryl). I had all 4 of my girls on him. He ran for about a half-hour, treed, bailed before we were even close, treed again up the canyon a little ways and that's where we found him. He was curled up in a ball so was hard to tell his size, we got him movin tho and figured he'd be comin down, but he wanted nothin to do with them dogs! Further Up the tree he went, then down he fell!:D He weighed 327lbs.

we got lucky on the one we got out whole (the black one). He was in the creek about 2200 feet down from the road, but (with a bit of work) we were able to get my 4wheeler to the ditchline which was about half way down. For the other part we used our chainsaw winch. Still a lot of work, but definatly the way to go when gettin them out whole!

Hey Kelsy, Nice pics and I've been thinking about those winches as I hunt a quite a bit by myself and they might come in handy, I know several guys that go up your way every year but I've never made the trip with them as I'm usually working when they go but I'm going one of theese days as it seems ya got alot ofbear up that way, have a good1, Mike

I'm sure you could get a bear out with just one guy and the winch, but man, it'd be a real pain in the .... we usually have 2 or 3 people. One to run the cable up the hill and attach to a new tree, one to run the winch, and one to keep the bear on his back/side and pull it out away from trees. The bears will sometimes hang up on a tree and you gotta roll him over to get around it. Usually your cable man can also help with the bear. The guy on the winch is pretty much stuck there unless you got flat enough ground that the bear won't move. The winches are also slow goin. It took 3 of us 2 1/4 hours to winch the bear 1500 feet!

We are practically neighbors. I just posted a thread on my bear taken last day of season this year.

Plotthoundgirl ~ Congrats on a good season! Those are nice pictures. One day I'm going to make it over that way myself for a hunt.

I've always heard there's a lot of Bears over there, but along with it comes A LOT of hunters. I don't like all that though.
