Is there any way at all or is it different for every dog.. My dog is 6 weeks prego on the 30th and she seems huge to me with 3 weeks still to go. My hopes are for a smaller litter it being her first litter, but I was just curious to see if there was a way to tell or not..

oh yes, I am planning on being there when she does go to have them. The vet I use is going to do an xray ab a week or so before to try and see how many she's going to have.. so I know things are going smooth when she does finally have them. I'm still going to cross my fingers for not so many pups in the meantime.. I guess impatience is getting the best of me.

Your vet should be able to ultra sound her and give you a pretty good answer or other wise it is a crap shot you just never know. After a female has had a few litters she can be pretty predictable on litter size but you just never know.

A friend of mine had a vet do an ultra sound and the vet said she was going to have 3 or 4. She had 13. You don't have to long to wait, don't worry she is gonna be fine. Save your money for hunting fuel and equipment, it would be better spent that way. Jsut my opinion.

Axle, your impatience may be the worst enemy of both you and the bitch. If you have access to a whelping box, use it. If not, put her in a secluded area, preferably on dirt IMO, and let nature take it's course. Forget the vet unless she has trouble which is unlikely. Good luck.

oregonblues- She's papered, so is her stud. Her sire's side has northern blue jet dogs showing up a bunch, from jet 2 through jet 7. Her dam's side is mostly cameron.

briarpatch- She's going to have them in my horses old stall, he's been moved and the stalls since been cleaned and disinfected.

Other than that it's just a waiting game til the 20th.

well she had them, 3 days early. She had 10 healthy puppies, no runts but one that was a tank.
