A couple of months ago there were several threads that were titled decline of the ____ hound, well lets see the opinions of those who have seen hounds improve and what has led to the improvements. I have heard that the treeing instinct in most hounds is the strongest its ever been.

I believe the genetics are there today to produce any "type" of hound a hunter could want in any color. hounds that produce game in average areas are doing well. the traits i find lacking most often are super accurate trail hounds, and style. I approve of breeding for results first. however wish hounds people would breed for a recognizable ideal as well. I like hounds of all types and colors. but must admit to admiring a pack of perfectly matched hounds who produce game just as easily.
