Hello to all. I'm not new here. I try to listen more than speak. I enjoy reading the discussions. I live in western Montana but have been working here in Alaska for the past eight months.

Time to head back to Montana, cat season is close. I have been fortunate and have owned some good hounds and have had good luck with them. I run Plotts, blue dogs and one Airedale. I run my dogs on dry ground or snow. I just enjoy being out there following a hound.

Good luck to all this hunting season.

Welcome to the site! You run an Airedale with your hounds does he help that much? I have seen others on this site talk about running Airedales when hunting lion and bear but are they just mean or should I say gutsy enough to tip the table to the dogs on a mean lion or .....

She has treed lions and bears by herself, and she does help the hounds. I know of people that use nothing but Airedales to run lions and are consistent with them. I use her because of her grittiness on game, she if not afraid to pull hair. If not for her pulling hair on a bad lion I would have lost a good hound, instead it was a trip to the vet and fifty stitches. I also run them because of wolves, not sure if it help but she has been chased by wolves but hasn't been killed yet.
