Hunting lion/bear with weimranars?

I'm trying to decide what I should do for my next dog. I was thinking about trying to train a weimranar to be a bear and lion dog and possibly breed it with a coon hound to get a hybrid. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or heard of anyone trying to run weimranars. If you have any feedback on this it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I wouldn't waste my time with it. I am sure there are folks on here that like them but every one I have been around was completely useless.

Bred to long for looks they're not even good bird dogs any more let alone bear or lion. I've got a gsp that is real good on cats but she still doesn't cold trail for shit. You want to catch game go with dogs that have been bred to hunt bear and lions for many years. You will be to old to hunt by the time you produce something that will catch consistantly out of a weimranar.

Why would a weimeraner and a hound cross make a hybrid? Wouldn't it just be another dog capable of producing offspring . I am always amazed with the 1000 dollar hybrids at the pet store but if there at the pound there a mutt :-(

sam, you are 100% right it would be just another dog with a gazillion diferent genes. adding to the enormous amount of ones that already are not reproducing. (a hybrid can not reproduce) take care!
