alot of times with a bright light the cat will close its eyes so i use a 2 cell double a batteries. one of those and a bright one is a good combo.

LED light the little ones that take three AA batteries are the best to spot a cat in a tree they will look at it. All you will see is the eyes glowing back at you. A bright light will cause them to close there eyes. Dewey

I use a nite light coonhunters favorite. I am on my second one.The first one the battery lasted around 12 years .I had to replace the cord and a couple of reastat switches but the battery did great.I have had my second about five years and its doing fine.My boys have tried some of the smaller batterys with out as good of luck. It is big and bulky but if you use a LED around the truck and this for going to the trees it works great. You can turn the power down as low as you need and crank it up and still reach the top of the large fir trees. You want it as dim as it will still reach where your trying to look.I have tryed LED lights and always thought the cats didnt like the type of light it put out. May be I didnt try the right one.
