What is the best GPS out there?

My mom is looking to buy one for her car and I want her to get the best one out there..

We are looking at the Tom Tom, Magellan and a Navigon..

Any input?

I'd lean more towards Garmin for standard nav units.. but if you're between the 3, I'd go with Tom-Tom for reputation and price. Check Costco.com for pricing, even if you're not a member. Garmin and Tom-Tom will be cheap this year for Christmas. Black Friday Best Buy and Walmart will have the Garmin Nuvi 255 for $85. This is a pretty good unit.. base model, but pretty good. If not, check out the Nuvi 1390T with Lifetime maps. Costco.com & Amazon.com are running these for $179.99 with pretty much all the features you could want. Anyways, that's a few options for you.. I work for Garmin's primary US distributor, that's the only reason I know about the pricing and such.. I got my wife a Garmin Nuvi 205, and that works good for us.. just plain jane model, but they will be dirt cheap this year Between Nov 26-29th online.

My wife and I both use our droids, the smart phones on there have a pretty good set of apps for them and they are all pretty accurate as long as you use the google, or vz navigator apps. The car dogs work well and they do also work as a phone and a computer.

I have a navigon and have had nothing but problems with it .

Garmin didn't write the book, but they edited, spell checked and made all the corrections if you know what I mean.

I love mine, I can load tunes up on it and play them through the radio. Pretty good considering I'm technologically challenged

Plus with regards to finding places, there's a whole list of 'em, like banks, fast food, specialty shops, etc. I got off work early one day and wanted to get my son a knife for his birthday (not a typical knife). Wasn't sure of the 'hood, so just typed in "knife store" and it found all kinds of cutlery places close by!
