Howdy all. Just gonna put this out there if any one has older lion or bobby dog that they want to part with to make room for something else i am in the market for one. something that will show a young dumb kid and his young hounds a thing or two. Or maybe just some one around western central wyoming that would be willing to take me with and one of my young dogs just to get them some exper. with some older dogs that have run lions. I have started them all on coon and been runnin them hard but really looking to get into the kittys. Thanks

If your dogs are doing well on coons, then you should have no problems getting them to run and catch a lion off a fresh track.

Find the areas where the deer winter, and after a fresh snow, hit the roads above the deer, and you should have no problem finding a lion track. Maybe for the first little while to make sure you get them fired up on the lion track, leash them for a while on the track until they are for sure taking it, and let them go.

It may take some time, and you may have some looses, but if they are doing the coons, then they have the game figured out. It's just a matter of introducing them to a new scent, and letting them know its ok to chase that scent as well.

Well thanks I am just waitn on the snow but did that last year and had a dog with ahh thats supposed proven and went to trashn took my best actn pup with him and found them 8 days later. so was just thinkn if i found an older dog that was used alot then i could try to pair one young dog with it and hope they stick to the same trail. but got redbone dog that looks to be a good one just need the white stuff.

i hunt outa kinnear a little west of riverton. I do most of my lion hunting up in the sinks canyon and table mountain are but i got a tip on some lions out east of riverton so mite try there this year.
