I saw something on here a while back on live traps were it was a 5 in one deal. All the traps fit inside each other for easy transport? If anyone has any info or has any good ideas for good live traps let me know. Thanks Geno

The best ones that I've seen and had are the TruCatch traps out of the Dakotas. They have a website. I would get the double door, extra big and collapsable. They are pretty spendy though. The cats are way more likely to enter a double door trap though. The nice thing about the door locking mechanism is that in order to release the animal for the dogs, all you have to do is roll it over on it's top and the door falls open.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more with both statements above. Harbor Frieght traps are probably the worst traps out there. Had a guy buy one and trapped a coon in it. The coon tore the trap apart within hours and was gone. Also two door traps like Havahart will not hold a coon just for the reason stated above. Almost every coon will roll the trap over and the doors simply open up. There is nothing to hold them shut.

I own Urban Wildlife Services here in Colorado. I trap and relocate nuisance animals for a living. I own about 200 cage traps. Every one of them is a Safeguard trap. By far the best trap I've found. I personally like the ones with the rear sliding door so I can transfer critters easily between traps by putting the two traps back to back and simply sliding open the two doors. I can carry about 75 traps on my truck just by putting them inside each other and standing them on end. I've never lost a single animal or had one of these traps tore up by an animal in 15 years. They will last most guys several lifetimes. Also, thier customer service is the best in the business. The worst customer service is Tomahawk traps. Don't buy them!

there is a trapper up in north east wa, that builds his own, he traps 20-30 bobcats a year, sells them for 125, they are single door, 1x1/2 wire,inside door slide that is on the top,door hinges are round washers,they dont freeze up.

That's why I recommended the hog wire ! Since Geno was looking for a deal,I suggested them. I have had no problem with fox or coon if you shore them up a little . The best traps will be made of welded round bar not mesh and cost over a 100$ if you want something large and tough . This is why the lord gave us #3 Bridgers .

I think the traps from Harbor Fright are to small for cat even if they were not cheap crap. Duke makes some HD traps there are very well made and will last a long time and you can get them for a good price around $50 from Duke and from R-P Outdoors. I dont think even the duke HD traps are tall enough for cats but work amazing on coon and fox. If your looking for some great cage traps for cat I like the traps made by Schroeder fur company. He has a cat combo set thats amazing it has 38"Lx20"Hx13"w and 36Lx18Hx11W and 34Lx16Hx9W set they all fit inside each other and you can get all 3 for $173. Hey FullCry, how do the doors on them Safeguards hold up to big boars coon and bobcats? I was loking into them but the doors have me a little worried. I have had other traps with doors made the same way and big boar coons, bobcats and even beaver could bend that door up to a point where it could get out.
