NDOW Meeting on Nevada Black Bear Hunt, Reno Dec.3-4
Posted: Fri Dec 03, 2010 2:39 am
This could be a very important weekend for houndsmen in the Western United States of America. Nevada is proposing a black bear hunt for the first time in the history of their statehood. The Nevada Department of Wildlife, NDOW, is meeting in Reno this weekend to discuss "A REGULATION relative revising provisions governing the establishment of a black bear hunt, eligiblity waiting period requirements, bonus point program, weapons restrictions, tag fees an other mattersw related thereto." -Proposed Regulation of the Board of Wildlife Commissioners CGR 393.
I am hoping to make it to Reno on Sunday but the weather forecast isn 't looking too good. As we all know, California houndsmen and bear hunters sometimes face a deeply ingrained institutional prejudice when interacting with the California Department of Fish and Game. Just this past week the National Geographic Channel aired an episode of "Wild Justice" . Okay enough, this is turning into an article for Full Cry and Western Outdoor News. Screw it, I'm going hunting. If this actually turns into a published article I'll let the board know. Maybe they'll even pay me! hahahaha -Pete
