On Xmas day I had a dog get sick. He started drooling, became listless and had very sore and stiff neck. A good description was "weathervien neck." I took him in and the vet diagnosed the dog with a stiff sore neck. So she gave me a muscle relaxer and amoxacilin and said call back in two days.
The next day the dog was clearly on its death bed, so I took the dog back and the vet did a chest Xray and sure enough....pnumonia!!
Anyone ever seen a weathervein type neck as a symton of pnumonia??
Meanwhile I got stuck for 230 bux

for the misdiagnosis!!

We have never seen what you described.
In regards, to the pneumonia, I would recommend picking up a $5.00 Stethoscope from Jeffer's and listen to what normal breathing sounds like on one of your healthy dogs. With practice and exposure you will be able to recognize the sound of fluid in their lungs or at least something that is not normal.
Good luck.

Good advice HW, Thanks.
I lost a dog to pnumonia one time but he never got the "weathervien" neck.
One thing about it, they don't go off feed when they get it. They get sick and keep on eating until they get really bad.
