This occured two doors down, (about 1/8th of a mile) from MY kennel with MY dogs and new Puppies!! Whatever it was, cleared a 6 foot kennel to get to the dog, and was able to do some damage! I really don't doubt it was a Cougar. They cut out a lot of the story in the news story, when I've spoken to the dnr as a member of my fire department multiple co's have told me they wont deny to me there are cougar in Michigan, just not a breeding population to report.

I forgot to mention... What pisses me off is that when the DNRE tries to tell you there isnt cougar in your state, and you ask them or tell them you will shoot it next time you see it then, they tell you, you will be facing serious charges for doing so.

DeVuono311 my understanding on the law is that if there are no cougars they are not on the protected list like wolves are therefore can be harvested. We had a red stag in our area a few years back and a buddy of mine asked the dnr about hunting it they said all he needed was a small game licence and hunters orange because they arent listed he harvested it no problem. So if cougars dont exist in Mi how can you get in big trouble for shooting them when there are no laws protecting them? Food for thought.

because the insurance companies paid the dnr to turn them loose hoping they would make a big dent in the deer population but I have been wrong before
they are here and have been here longer than most folks realize and they have to be breeding for it to end up every county and big swamp has a cougar story

Until they put them on the protected list there fair game. The dnr will tell ya anything to try and scare ya but untill they putem on the list its open season. The dnr are waiting for someone to catch one and call them sothey can see it and thats when they'll putem on the protected list. So untill that happens lets have fun withem when we findem.
