I live in pownal maine and i was wondering if anybody from this site is from maine that hunts coyotes. There has been 3 or 4 people lately hunting coyotes around my house. I want to try my dog on coyotes but its hard when i only have 1 at the time. and i know there is plenty around. Should I try to just find fresh tracks and follow them out and see how she does. My dog is built for speed she is running walker cross and she is fast.

OO Buck : We are up here about an hour north of bangor . We only Coyote night hunt over bait . Have NOT seen any specific coyote hounds that have impressed me yet . Not saying there aren't any though . Closer to you there was a guy hunting yotes with Goodman hounds . Have you been to the Coyote pen just north of Portland?

no i didnt know there was onee i didnt even know if they were allowed in maine. i live 20 minutes from portland what is the place called that would be awsome.

What i usually do with a young dog is find a track and walk it with the dog and keep puting his nose in it. It may take a couple times but if he wants to hunt its the best way.

00- Yes there a pen there and a man thats lives in Oxford ME. that has real nice hounds. Get with the guys running around your house and see if you can join in.

there are guys up there lots of guys runnin coyotes i think the place has more coyotes than anything and they got dogs that catch sometimes fast they just dumpem in dirt road in a few minutes they got a track and are gone i hear they catch one a day usually problem is there bear seem to get jumped n go up hill away from town everything else u jump in the state runs down hill and into town a bit of a problem with the anti crowd thats growin by the minute there
you might have some problems if you did not grow up there i would find the guys who been runnin them 20yrs or more and talk to them problem is they usually are not on the computer but there trucks are easy to spot n i bet they talk to you plenty

last i knew there were some hunters in union and appleton. Dont know how far you are from there?
