I cut his track at about a hour befor daylight so I did some driving around after wiping out the tracks in an atempt to shorten the track up. I ran a road that was on the next ridge top about 2 miles away and the track didnt cross so I was sure he was in the drainage between. At sun up I turned the dogs to the track. They didnt start it great and I couldnt find the track because when it left the road it went into burned off stuff, but after a little work the dogs got the track going and once they hit the bottom of the drainage they were smoking the track as there was more snow in the bottom and on the north slope. After working the track for a few miles down the creek they blew up and I could tell they had the cat jumped and in short order they were treed. It took me about an hour to reach the dogs and the tree. In the tree was the largest cat that Ive treed to date. I thought about putting my tag on him but with 2 months left in season I didnt want to be done. I had called a few duddies to go with me that morning but they all had to work. Boy were they sorry as they had tags I would have let one of them harvest him. With any luck I'll get to chase him again some time.
