i buy dog food by the pallet which = 21 50 pound bags from sams club. saves me time and money . the dogs do well on it which is my main concern . i do this twice in a year runs 800 dollars . plus table scraps .friend of mine asked me one day arent those hounds exspensive to feed ? i said not as exspensive as that cancer stick hanging out of your mouth we then figured up what he was spending in a year buying 4 packs a day of marlboros it was pretty handy to 7000 dollars . we both had a big chuckle . iasked him if he ever breathed air . he said i love to smoke and really enjoy it ,so we both could see both sides of the coin. just a little short story i thought people would enjoy.

I've always bought feed by the ton, just to save money. I average about 2 to 2 1/2 tons a year. I am in the process of putting together a deal on getting 5 tons of Pazazz dog food delivered, just to try a (hopefully) better feed.

Here is a good website you can see how your dog food shapes up against the others. Ranked from 1 to 5 being best. For those of you feeding Sams or Old Roy from WalMart, it ranks as low as they get. It is horrible food.

We have a guy up here that delivers a pallet or two at a time to me. Last a long time and it comes a lot cheaper that way. It is Black Gold.

full cry i know the sams food i feed is not the best dog food on the market ,but horrible i couldnt call it . i do feed leftovers as well . all my dogs are healthy and energenic . these maine winters would sure show if the food wasnt doing its job.have one old guy here 14 going on 15 that has ate it his whole life . still has full set of nice chompers.these are just my exsperiences and observations . hell all of us wish we could afford to feed our dogs buffalo and salmon dogfood , but it just isnt affordable . i myself have to eat cheaper cuts of meat ,and cheap hotdogs vs the 6 dollar a pound franks so we can make it through these trying times ,but i still weigh 285 so go figure . i would be interested in hearing what is the best food at the most affordable price in your opinion . im not bashing you full cry cause i know you wrote this out of concern. im not above change either if it doesnt break the bank.

Here's the thing, I need numbers. Let's break it down. I been buying Atta Boy from Cosco which is 23/9 and 16.50 for 50 pounds. That's about 30 cents a pound. I may be wrong, but I look at it like this... what is best? if it is 30/15, then that makes the best about one third better. So, if I'm going to pay more for the best, then it should come in at about 40 cents a pound. So, I'd like to hear if you guys follow me or agree or if you have other thoughts then please share with me.

In fact, I feed animal products up to fifty percent of my total feed, but I'm not sure if my supply will continue to be available. So, for this discussion, I'd like to just talk about the delivered dog food.

George, how much is your black gold per pound delivered?

Can anyone else break down the cost of delivered dog food?

Thanks for your help.

Sean

$27.09 for a 50lbs bag. My last pallet I got 5lbs free per bag so that was nice.

So what is that about $0.55 per pound regularly. It is the 26/18. Works fairly well but I still have to supplement their diets when hunting hard.

One thing I like about it is that it agrees with all my dogs. When I tried cheap foods I thought they were going to die and some of the better foods I have tried gave some of the dogs pooper problems. Bad enough that I threw it away.

On 6-22-07 I had 42 50lb bags of pazazz delivered to sw washington from Hiwatha kansas for $992.00. It was the best feed I have ever fed. Fed between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups to 45 to 60 lb hounds and they looked great. When I needed more I could not get it out here for a reasonable price because fuel was up so much by then, so I got a ton of Black Gold from an outfit in Longview WA . The black gold did not compare at all to the pazazz. With the black gold I was feeding almost double to keep the wieght on the hounds. Needless to say that was the last time I bought the black gold. I am now feeding the Kirkland dogfood from Costco and it is doing good so far. I need to look into the pazazz again.

I dont buy by the ton or pallet, but i swear by the black gold! I tree to feed my dogs old roy and they looked good, but they shit all the time and it was usually semi runny and smelled up the whole kennel, after switching to black gold they only shit once a day, it is smaller and virtually has no odor, and my dogs are doin great on it!!! I feed them the blue bag kind.
