I dont know much about the cur dogs, but an outfitter I know was talking about them and loves them and cant say enough about how gritty and smart they are! but does not own any, I guess my question is, what do you think of cur dogs on bears, what breed is the best and does anyone breed them specificly for big game hunting or are they just mainly for coons and other small animals. thanks and happy hunting!

i own a mountain cur, and i love him to death, without a doubt our best bear dog at the moment, the only problem i have with him is he's real silent on the trail, and if there is another dog there that is trailing he will just hang back till they catch up to the bear or the other dog blows by the track, last year he had more bears on the ground by himself than we caught, he just wouldn't get in their and harrass them by himself like he would if he had a dog or two their to help him, as for mountain lions ive seen him trail them too, but most often you wont hear from him till they have it caught, gritty, you don't want him there with a couple of older dogs if they have a little female on the ground cause he wont hesitate if he has help. he's a fair coondog but loves porkypines. and anthor problem is he listens to the other dogs way to much, cause at seven years old he will still chase trash if another dogs starts it. but wouldn't trade him for the world!!!!!!

You can't go wrong with the American Leopard Curs, talk with Lepcur, he has some outstanding bear dogs.
