Murtaugh Ditch Cougar

Got up bright and early this morning to go see if we couldn't find some kitties. We rolled up on some big tracks that appeared pretty fresh. Turned the dogs loose at daylight and away they went making the sweetest sound in the world. Ya know that sound that sends goose bumps from your toes to your ears. I went one way and Marshall and Matt went the other. My side was steep and when I came to the spot that was below the dogs I was facing a rock cliff. The dogs were going nuts. All I could see and hear were the two dogs and a mad hiss. Marshall had beat me on the other side and I could only see a little of his blue sweater as he came through the rocks. Pictures will show the cave that he came through. After he walked through the cat moved around and was blocking his only way of escape. He knew that I wanted to shoot this big cat, however, this big cat was gonna eat my dog!!!!! He shot the cat and I hustled to get around to the other side. I was disappointed only in that we did not get pictures of the cat alive since it all happened so fast and it could have been a hairy situation. Cornell and his boy Clay showed up to help us get dogs gathered and the TOM loaded. Pictures are worth 1,000 words!!! But I wanted to throw in a few too! Great day with good buddies!
#1 Marshall with his ditch cougar. The two dogs in the cave were Marshall's dog Seirra, and My dog Hammer. Other dogs in on the chase were Frick, Frack, and Razor

I'm not aware of any drycreek boys that have said anything about the weight. If you heard it as a rumor, I'm guessing it is just that. I do know those drycreek boys have caught a pile of lions this year. The rookie part is correct. I don't know how they catch anything!
