I have been toying with the idea of taking the counter weight off from my dc 30s and slippin a shock collar on. does that thing searve any other purpose than to balance the collar? will I still get reception?

There is no counterweight on a Garmin...that is the GPS ant.

Folks are taking them and putting them on dayglo collars for different color collars. I believe there are instructions (on the site, from bud, on Bud's double U graphics supply sight?) on how to convert them to those collars. Can someone with experience tell us if it's possible to do the coversion onto a tritronics G3 collar set up - or put the G3 unit on the dayglo collar prior to mounting the DC30 unit/antenna set up?? Does that make sense?? Thanks folks. Paul Conway

Yes it could be done, and even with the collars your G3 sits on now. Just have to move the G3 further towards the buckle to make room for the DCxx. That way you can run the GPS wire safely up the collar and protect it with something. Reverse them and it will be hard to protect that wire as it passes over the G3.

thanks steve, do you think it would be better on the g3 collar or a dayglow?

The collar is completely your choice. Doubt the color would matter much.

I think it would be better on the g3 cuz aren't those collars longer then the day glow?

I thought about this but then I wouldn't have enough holes to use them on my beagles when I'm not running the big hounds, unless you shorted the distance between the battery and that other thingy, would that affect anything?

Yes you could do that. Just have to be careful not to pinch the wire, or anything. One problem could occur. That is blocking the antenna from having a clear line of sight to the sky. Which is the reason the DC30 works better than the DC40. The antenna being on top allows for a better view of the sky.
