Bobcat hunt from heck

Went out last weekend with Kevin to try to find a couple of bobcats. Man o man has Kevin got some freakin awsome houndogs. We were going up the road and looking for tracks ( I have a hard time because I want to stop at every hole in the snow ) But Kevin is a Master. We looked at several real old tracks and Kevin was patient and showed me how to tell how old, direction, and stuff like that. Then Kevin spots a track that gets him excited. I knew at that time we were about to have a chase. Kevin gets out two dogs. I think he called the one peanut, and the other one ruby. He turns them loose on this track and the bobcat was walking on top of 3' crusted snow, but the dogs were falling through it. The dogs went over the mountain and we had to find a road that took us in that direction. We found an old road Kevin knew about, chained up his truck and headed up the mtn. We could here the dogs barking pretty good, and Kevin said he figured Peanut had the cat jumped, after that the dogs screamed back over the mtn. so we took the chains off and drove clear back around. When Kevin pulls out on this point we could hear the dogs in the bottom of this huge canyon and Kevin started putting his backback on. I knew they must have this thing caught. I get my stuff ready and try to keep up with Kevin. This guy is a machine. He can walk through waist deep snow with a pack on faster than I can walk without any snow. We get to the tree and the bobcat jumps and runs across the ice on the river. The dogs chased it and was out of hearing in seconds. I went to run across the river and fell through the ice. It was deep and cold. Kevin saved my life I think. He pulled me out and told me I better go back to the truck. I couldn't do that. I just had to see if them dogs could catch this bobcat again. Well sure enough they had the bobcat in a huge cottonwood this time way up country. Kevin had only one tag left and he said this cat wasn't big enough so we let it go. I pert near froze to death before we got back to the truck. I still cannot believe them dogs could go through that deep of snow and catch a bobcat that was running on top. Kevin told me it was nothing neat, but I thought it was the bobcat hunt of a lifetime. Thanks again Kevin for rescuing me from the frozen river and for letting me go along and asking all those questions. IF you ever want to get rid of peanut remember my name. Thanks

That's the deal!
You tell Kevin he is wrong! That is neat, and cat hunting in the deep snow is not for the faint of heart, but I bet you are ready to go with him again right?

Mutz... Consider yourself lucky. It's not everyday you get to hunt with a legend.

Kevin,
I was going to save the fishing tale for the next story.
I appreciate you letting me tag along. I sure look forward to it again. I'm supposed to head east this weekend and hunt with another guy out in the Uintah Basin. Katt Traxx hooked me up to go with this guy. I've talked to him on the phone is all. I hope we have as good of time as I did with you Kevin. I'm looking real forward to tagging along this spring on the Bear hunt. Thanks again for the hunt, and take good care of peanut.

Well MUTZZ..

Glad to hear you had an eventful hunt.. ANd you are right, ol Kev is always good for a great hunt, no EGO to deal with, and he has a heckuva bunch of dogs.. He's also a little humble too in case you can't tell.
Here is another thing I have noticed Mutzz.. ALL and I mean ALL of the really great hound guys I have known were humble. They said very little about themselves or the dogs they had at the time.. If you run into a guy like that, and he can catch a cat.. you have found a hunter..
And, make sure you give ol Catman a call. He is the real deal, he is a fun guy to go with, and he has some really nice dogs. Ain't many of us ever be as good as ol Kev.. (He's better from a barstool, than I am in the hills) but ol Catman will sure as heck show you an eventful and enjoyab le hunt. I think there is another guy with dogs out in the basin somewhere.. try not to get them confused with each other..
Take Care and Good Luck with your new found interest.. KattSkatt

KattTraxx,
Is Catman the same guy you pmed me about? If so that is who I'm going with this weekend.
I still really want to tag along with you and also Houndog. I can't ever get ahold of him though.
Kevin sure knows his stuff. That guy I went with before seemed awful dumb compared to Kevin. And that peanut dog he has is unbelievable. I think that dog walks on water, but heck I'm just learning.
And as you said Kevin is humble. I couldn't believe them dogs and he just kept telling me that they weren'y doing anything neat, just doing their job he said.
I think I'm already addicted in this sport

Mutzz,,
Yeah, Catman is the guy I pm'd you about. He is a young, handsome, athletic guy.. Not to be confused with an older, heavier, somewhat homely looking guy..
And, you may already know this too, but if you can ever get lucky enough to hunt with HounddDawgg, you will have hunted with the best. Ol Kev is a close second best.. I have tried for many, many years to go along with him, and never even been acknowledged. I offered to leave my gogs home and just carry his lunch.. still not a word from his publicist.. So, if you are fortunate enough to accompany him, would you put a good word in for me please..?? Thanks, KattSkatt..

My buddy told me my name was being taken in vain over here, what the hell are you talking about Kattraxx? Saying you've never been invited to hunt with me.
Hell sakes dude, I have left at least 5 phone messages at your house with personal invitations to go hunting... Oh wait, those messages were for your wife.

Never mind.
Tell you what, Nolte has shown me the future. Forget hunting, you buy us a case of expensive beer and we are going to go setup one of those fancy ice fishing tents up on the lake, drill a hole, build a fire and drink beer all day.
If you want to bring a fishing pole, fine... I'll probably just drill a hole and sit and drink by the fire. Those fish are cold and slimy anyway.
There's your invitation chief!! Hell, we don't even have to drill a hole in the ice. We can just go pitch the tent in a field, drill a hole in the snow and pretend we're ice fishing.
The main thing is lots of beer and some munchies. (See Nolte I told you I was a natural at this ice fishing thing)
Carry on.... PS... Did I actually hear someone use the word "handsome" talking about KevinD? The guy who put the "Ug" in Ugly?
I don't buy that story about him falling in the creek. The creek would see him coming and jump out of the way.

There's Houndog,
Hey when can we go out bud? I have been trying to get a-hold of you for weeks. I figured you were trying to ignore me
I went out with Kevin and he has some awsome dogs. I'm going with another guy named Dick this weekend, and after that I sure would like to go with you and KattTraxx before winter ends. I am sure addicted to this. I can buy munchies, but am not old enough to buy beer yet, sorry.
Thanks Mutz

Mutz,
Didn't realize you'd been trying to get a hold of me. FYI... I never answer my home phone and I answer my work phone when it's my boss calling.
And if you leave a message my kids will listen to it and delete it. I've been told I'm not real easy to get a hold of.
A couple of questions first and then we'll see about hunting together:
1 - So you are too young to buy beer? Do you have a hot sister that is old enough to buy beer and enjoys hunting?
2 - Your mother doesn't happen to be Carmen Electra? Just thought I'd ask.
3 - Are you the Heir to a large family fortune by chance? If so, would you call it millions or billions?
4 - Do you have a credit card? What kind of balance would you say is left on it?
Let me know and we'll set something up.

Hunting with Kevin and Kattraxx and then coming with me would be a lot like taking that Porsche back to the dealer and telling them you'd rather drive a Yugo.
Oh ya, your sister isn't on a bikini photo shoot in the Bahamas by chance? Can we wait until she gets back? We'll need a driver to get us home.

I'm sure glad to hear ole kevin was breaking trail for you Mutz, cause he was making some comments over on another post about me being an attractive man and well.....

I just didn't know about that guy, but keep him breaking trail and you should be OK!
On a serious note I'm glad you got to go see a cat Mutz, and like I said earlier my money was on kevin being the real hounddogger in that bunch...............
