We don't realy need wolves running about in the wild. Hunting dogs can fill that void if needed and be alot more controlled on what they take. Maybe ok for the realy wild places that see a person once a year. But we don't need them in busy parks or forest land.

Sure happy we don't have any where I live... They have been trying to intoduce red wolves in parts of AZ tho. Most of them have atleast some Dog DNA in thier makeup too since they got the "wolves" from Wolf-Hybrid breeders. Saw some of those wolves while turkey hunting up in northern AZ and they acted almost tame... very used to people.

Thank's for the opportunity to vote...hope you don't mind my participation, I'm in the U.P.

As you likely know, we're infested with them, too. The Michigan DNR's initial public statement was...200 wolves in the U.P> would be a number they felt everyone could live with. Now there's well over 600...now the official position is: "we do not have any plans to reduce wolf numbers."

It let me vote again today. Do you guys think this post will have any effect on them actually starting a wolf hunting season? We're clearly winning the polls now.

Wolf Season

I voted- I think the best thing is furbearer status or big game status for wolves in all states. I think most people will find wolves much less of a threat than people who shoot dogs, steal dogs or dogs getting run over. I am on wolf ground every single time I hunt, and have had them come in to trees- it can be scary but no worse than having a race head for a paved road. Dan, I think you have a chance to be very proactive in helping to set up seasons- wolves are nothing compared to a bunch of Manning #9, MB 750 or 3/32" snares scattered all over the country. Your wolves will behave much better with a season on them, but you might want to think about your cat seasons. I trap and hound hunt, love 'm both. I would suggest doing everything you can to give wolves furbearer status, and try to set up trapping seasons that won't effect current hound seasons. Anyone who can catch a coyote can catch a wolf, and they come to a call readily. (howling) You might have a lot of fun!
