Have made a couple boxes out of .065 (16 gauge) works great - strong enough, but not to heavy. Good Luck!

I have a dog box made from 1 inch angle iron, frame and doors then I wrapped it in 1/4 plywood but I had the plywood wrapped by a tin knocker with colored metal first which makes the metal stronger and don't flex and bolted it on. I built this box in 1988 and replaced the wood twice in 23 years, I can load this box by myself, and it is a 2 stall

hey houndcrazy i welded and built my box out of steel as well and for the sides and the doors i used aluminum and just used self tappers to attach it to the tubing that way it stays nice and lite weight. Hope its not to late and this helps i am new to the site.
