Most Bear Hunting Possible!!!!!

If a person had the gumption and money where can one go bear hunting until they hibernate in the fall? I'm talking with dogs pursuit.

Possibly North Carolina ,Very short Hibernation ,but not sure of the Dates

six months of running bears in BC if you are a resident. Lots of bears and little competion.

I don't mean to hijack your post but I have a question for chilcotin hillbilly what are the nonresident rules for running dogs in canada? Do you have to be a resident or can you hunt with a resident are the rules different by province? I'm just curious any information would be great thanks.

I think BC and Ontario are the only two provinces you can run bear??? In BC if you have immediate family living here with a valid hunting licence they can get a permit to accompany which would allow you to hunt here as long as the family member was with you. The only other option is hiring an outfitter.

Utah April 9 - May 31 Spring Pursuit
Utah July 9 - August 7 Summer Pursuit
New Mexico Unit 2 August
New Mexico End of September -October
Utah November
Any other suggestions?

Upper Michigan from early july training until end of kill season october 26. We see a number of bears denning at the end.

Your Right on all your dates in Utah
and add the fall hunt starts
August 27 - Sept 30
then skip Oct
and starts again Nov. 1st - Nov. 20th
Reminder that the fall hunt is for only those
who have a tag. No pursuit.
So we can hunt bear all but two months while
they are out of hibernation.
Last year we chased a bear on or near the
the last day to hunt. We even saw a few
tracks in the snow in the middle of Dec.
We have 3 tags for the Fall so we are all
way excited.

In Ontario, you need a guide if you are a non resident for hunting bear. And our southern season starts Sept.1st til the end of november the northern is Aug. 15th til the end of October, no spring season anymore. Cox. i know some guys that come up from Charlevoix MI every year to hunt...

Don't forget about Idaho, where a hound tag let's you hunt or pursue from April 15 through July 31 then opens up again in September. Other than a couple weeks in August and the month of October, you can pretty well hunt bear the whole time they are out just hunting in Utah and Idaho.

Pursuit July 1 to Aug 31
Kill Sept 7 to Oct 4 (presently need tag to hunt in this season but there is a bill to revise that)

As a non-res, you can't pursue in summer but they have a long kill season if you can draw a tag (which is relatively easy). Last year 2nd season tag went from Sep 15 to Oct 26. In the UP that could mean hunting in snow at the end.
