BE CAREFUL

Well, I guess I will put a story of my stupidity and ignorance.

Last night, I went to a friend's house, and we got to BS'ing about everything and looking at guns, pictures, videos, etc. When I went over there, I had one dog riding shotgun in the truck for the heck of it, and I left her in there with the windows rolled down a bit since it was nice and cool outside.

I went out there about an hour later to put up my pistol, and found an open, destroyed bottle of Rimadyl on the driver's seat, still wet with saliva!!!

I had this in the truck for one of my other dogs, and would give her one before hunting, and one after. I had about 8 100 MG chewable tabs left, and they were all gone.

I had to make a run to the vet at 730, because we could not get her to vomit.

Ended up costing me $250. The vet put her on some meds for ulsers, which I hope work, but I did notice some blood in her kennel today, in what looked like clear vomit.

I am hoping she will pull through this, and the meds will help her with that.

So, just make sure your dogs are in a secure spot and they can't get into any medications. Costly experience for me, and hopefully Sadie will pull through with no lasting effects.

Thank you. I also had to add Zantac to her medication for a few days, and feed her boiled rice and burger. She seems to be doing better, but I still think it will take a few days for everything to heal.

Anytime you catch a dog eating or drinking something they shouldn't, pour peroxide down their throat. They'll puke within seconds (A LOT). Saved a pup that lapped up some antifreeze by doing this.

Well, Sadie is doing bunches better. No vomit for several days now, and back on regular diet. I just have her on some antacids.

As for the peroxide - when this happened, we called the vet, and thats what they said to do. Apparently we didn't give her enough. They gave her even more, and something else, which did make her vomit. I guess the magical ammount is about 1 cup, we only gave about 30 cc's. Our K-9 handler just learned this as well in his training that he had recently.

Thanks for the tip though.
