I have a big dog pen about an acre and a half with a devider down the middle. Males on one side and females on the other. I have one female and 3 males. Well my female is in heat. To of my males I raised sence they were pups they are one now so I guess they are still pups. One is three that I got from a guy that quit hunting don't know much about him. But one of my pup and the older dog have been fighting the first time I have seen it I grabed bolth of them and gave them a whoopen. I came home today I was walking out there to feed them a herd them fighting again but this time it was bad they were serious. Buy the time I got to them they were bolth bleading every where. So I guess what I'm trying to get at is my female being in heat will this cause them to fight or is it something else. I'm afrade one day when I come home one will be dead. Any input or info would help thanks.....

ya its because she is in heat and i have seen it where even if she come out of heat they will keep fighting . you will deffently need to seperate them and even later might have to get rid of one of them.

Once it starts it is hard to stop. I would separate them or you will regret it. And yes they may started over the female. Dewey

there's several independent causes of aggression in dogs. sexual aggression is definitely one. If it is only sexual then cutting works usually however once dogs start fighting they tend to hold grudges even after cutting so get rid of one cut the other and keep him separated from the third for a while unless your there with a E-collar or prod in your hand.
I think the one thing we tend to forget is what kind of problems are really out there in different packs. It is always best to avoid them or stop them instantly then try and fix them later. this is one of the main reasons I support working with your dogs daily and roading them even if they are on a long chain or big kennel.
few young dogs would act like we want them too unless they are taught and encouraged to. if it is always easier to do right then wrong even a slow hound figures it out. most dogs will naturally develop some sort of bad habit unless there's pressure not to. once they are 8 and older they tend to stay in line even if temptation comes along just from habit before that they will probably act out.

you can't put two male in a pen together and a female in season in the pen next to them and not think they aren't going to fight. all cutting a older male does is it will not make pups you need to put the males in their own pens when a female is in heat

pegleg is right they hold grudges it may already be to late to trust them alone from here on out . even if it was the female being in heat that caused it .
