Hog Hunter from Louisiana

Hello all. I've been a member of the site now for a couple of weeks and I really enjoy reading posts and viewing pictures in the forums. I've been hunting hogs in Central Louisiana for the past 7 years or so; with mostly cur dogs. I did own a fantastic Plott for most of those years but I sold her two years ago because my hunting partners only hunted silent dogs and they didn't like my Plott. Wow what a huge mistake I made in selling my hound!! You don't know what you have until it's gone!! The gyp was given to me when she was six months old by Dan Gardner; I can't tell you how many hogs I've not been able to find (that I would have found) without her. I estimate that she found me 150 or more hogs in the 4+ years I had her. I've tried locating the guy I sold her too in an attempt to buy her back...I have not had any luck. That brings me to where I'm at now. I have some new hunting buddies and we all run both hounds and silent mouth dogs. I'm desperate to get back to having a great hound or two that can find hogs for me. At the moment, I have three Plotts, one is 1yr old, the other two are liter mates (they are only 4 months old). All three are from the Mike Cauley/Trey Love bloodline. The liter mates are from a Mike Cauley gyp and a Jeff Norris sire. The older puppy is from trey's Cowboy dog. I'm investing a lot of time in the young puppies in hopes that they turn out. I'm not sure that I am going to keep the 1yr old dog; he is a larger Plott than what i like. I've been hunting him and he does a good job. Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to a lot of great posts on this super website. Thanks Buddy.

deerhunter...aint that the truth. If I could do it over again, I'd kept the hound and the buddies, I would have just hunted by myslef. Anyone that reads my post is welcome to come and hunt with me anytime. All Ineed is a little time to plan in advance (get some time off work). Hunting hogs with hounds is fun...a lot of fun.

LAHOGHUNTER-what part of LA you at? I got family up in Shreveport, but no hound hunters. Got a guy from a club out here in WA that is from the Alexandria area some years ago. I lived 2+ yrs in Haughton but the humidity got to me.

I live in Alexandria, LA. I do most of my hunting in and around the Sabine River.

It's my favorite place. I eat there almost everytime I go that way. When may parents come in from FL, we make the hour drive to eat there.
