Orion Guide,

Several years ago I was working with AZGFD to try and get a spring pursuit season much like UT. I presented it at one of the commission meetings and came at it with the angle of the $ that would be made on the license. It lasted in their minds for a little while but soon came to a screeching halt. I was't able to attend every meeting like I needed to and without someone going and keeping it fresh in their minds it wasn't long before it was a distant memory.

Game and fish has a new hunter survey on their site. Now is the chance for a bear pursuit season. Take the survey and vote yes!

Now is our chance to help make something great happen! One of the questions is asking what we think about a pursuit season. Take the time to complete the survey and let them know what you think about a bear pursuit season in Arizona. Come on arizona houndhunters and anybody from anyplace that wants to help hound hunters gain some ground!

This post has had 286 views but only a few replys? I know that there are more arizona guys and out of staters that love to hunt arizona than the few that replied. Take the survey and make your voice heard! Then tell us about it and maybe more will do the same. They have a bear pursuit question on the survey, that means we have their attention and got them thinking. Do not let this opportunity fade away.

I think it's a good idea. I would like to know what the details of the pursuit season would be, but I can't see what harm it would do.

286 views ain't bad. Hopefully most of them voted and asked someone to do the same.

We also need a lion pursuit season for all of the units that are closed in the summer time?

I voted... looks like they just want to keep the season open to persuit only after the units close due to harvest objectives being reached.

On lion why not just go back to the old year round lion season? I don't think there were ever alot of lions killed in those summer months anyhow. I suspect it was more just tossing the anti-lion hunting types a bone... It changed in 2007 so maybe it can be changed back?

Thought i would throw my two cent's in on this subject. To let all u AZ hounders know Trevor has done his homework on this subject i talked to trevor the other day and man if we ever had a chance at a pursuit season this is it! I have talked to a game warden up here in the white mountains and he is 100% for this which is huge, like somebody posted it will be a pursuit after the harvest objective is met. Now i would prefer a spring hunt but will take what we can get! Trevor and i want to get a houndsmen meeting set up, i have talked to game and fish and they are all about it. So next question if Trevor and i get one set up how many will come out for it? Lets get our voices heard rub shoulders let our EGOS down for a few hours and see what happens let me know what you all think feel free to call me with thoughts or ideas 602 689 0358 Once again lets not let this opprotunity pass us by

I'm always afraid to see our game and fish do anything new. I just hope all you guys voting for it can deal with what might come of it. I hope it works out to our favor. But I always fill like they take more then thy give. And more laws in my mind are just more restrictions down the road. And it will also bring more people into what we do. Remember when archery and black powder were the new thing. It was great a few years now that many more people took up hunting. And you never get drawn for either one of those hunts anymore. So now you will pay to hunt a special hunt and in a few years when everyone has hounds yours will set at home while everyone else hunts in the special season you voted for. Just trying.to show another side to what could take place.

I can see where u r coming from but on the other hand everyone already has hounds have ya gone out on a snow in the last ten yrs? U to run roads all night and 9 times out of 10 all the roads are pounded and u pass 10 dog boxes. And still don't cut a damn track and same on bear hunts i grew up here in the white mountains and seems there r more and more hound hunters every year which means more sows bein bein killed which shuts down our units and results in ur dogs sittin on the chain. So so what if we get a few more regulations at least we can go out and pursue. Not tryin to start shit im just as guilty as the next houndsmen on killing a few sows and female lions but have out growin that BS if we all would let em be we wouldn't be needing this fall pursuit which goes back to being our own worst enemy. And on a different note we will all be lucky to be able to chase both lion and bear in 10 yrs the way animal rights people are these days so i say lets get what we can while its even legal to have hounds in the woods. So if we can all let our voices be heard lets take advantage of this rare opprotunity and role the dice and when i say let voices be heard i don't just mean on this sight lets go to the source (game& fish) and see if they mean what they say by rebuilding a relationship with the hunter's and anglers
