Anyone ever had any of their dogs catch this? Iam curious because this is what my vet diagnosed my dog with. And even with medication, her whole body quivers and she yelps when she moves, and exsessive panting. Im not sure if Im over reacting or not, has anyone ever seen this on this severity?

I had a dog die of it 2 years ago, even after months of doxycyclene, and several hundred dollars in vet bills the dog could not be saved. My dog would appear healthy but take him hunting and the stress of running and treeing it would come back with a vengeance. Good luck with your dog and that horrible disease.

Pardner, Erlyck is some bad S__T. We deal with it here in AR as well as it being very bad in FL.

Artrodex is telling it like it is. We have lost several very nice Hounds to it. Last year ole Rita had hell deliering a litter of Pups due to being a Erlyck surviver...we should never have bred her.

Our vet says that a Hound is never really over Erlyck, they will always tend to be unthrifty, not be able to stand hard Hunting, very suseptible to Kidney failure. Again it is terrible.

We had a dog get ehrlichiosis and he was never the same after he was treated.

He "got over it" to the extent that he was a runnable dog after the treatment of pills etc. but he was never the same. Lost a fair amount of stamina and completely changed his attitude.

The dog pre-ehrlichiosis was doing very very well (had hopes to become top dog in our kennel) but post-ehrlichiosis he got mean to other dogs and just could not put a whole run together.

Tough thing to fight and if I understand it right I think ANY tick can give this, not just those little bear and deer ticks.

It is a horrible thing. Along with it's counterpart anaplasmosis. Anywhere ticks are found it can be found. Here in WI most dogs that test positive also test positive for Lymes. A nasty one, two punch. 3yrs ago now got a wonderful xmas present. Loosing one of the best dogs I ever had to it the day after. What stinks is that it never goes away. just into remission of sorts.

Thank you everyone for the info. I really hope she comes out of it okay, she is only four years old and I got here when I was 13 so she is my first hound and means the world to me. Im also worried because she has already had lyme twice along with this. and I put the frontline stuff on her spray her with tick spray before we go out and she still gets a ton of them....
