had a 800 yard pop up bear the other night. when i got to the tree, which was 300 yards off the road my dogs were banging away at the tree like nothing was wrong. when i pulled them off i notice my red dog start to walk a little funny. didnt think much of it, he loaded up fine, but when i got home which was about 10 mins later he had no weight on his front right leg packing it a full 10 inches off the ground. gave him a tylonol and checked him over it was pretty soar about an inch under his dew claw. when i checked on him in the morning, his paw around the dew claw about 2 toes in was swollen bad and up above the pad too on the back. i dont want to take him to the vet just yet cuz its 300 buck everytime i go there but still dont want it to be broken and have to re break it later is there much the vet can do for a break/sprain there or is it time that will heal it.
