would like some advice on what to do bout dogs chasing deer and climbing trees my dog will start the track but then ends up in the nearest deer herd but if another dog has a coon or lion treed she climbs the tree would appreciate any advice on how to solve either of these problems

shock collar, breaking scents....some dogs are just natural deer dogs and should be used for deer but I say shock the sh** out of the dog when it comes near a deer or deer scent.... reinforce that deer mean no... if all fails sell to a deer dogger

My first three dogs chassed alot of deer before they were a year old, finaly they caught a young buck after a race that took them in a big circle and ended where I was able to catch up to them before they moved in for the kill. I lit into them real hard, grabbing them and tossing them back across the creek, deer attacked me for my trouble kicking me with its front legs in my behind. Anyhow they didn't chase any deer after that. But I was real lucky the chase ended close enough for me to catch up. A shock collar would have helped alot...

With the dogs that came after I have got on them right away and not let it get to that point. Because I don't own a shock collar I have to be on top of it as soon as they even show interest in a deer or track. Very hard to catch a dog running a deer. Then if you can get them on good game as fast as you can and praise them up good once they tree, most will get the idea fast because they want to please you.

On the tree climbing I have not had a big problem with but I am usualy right there with my dogs when they tree, or only 10-15 mins behind them so am able to tell them NO! And stop it before it becomes to much of a problem.

Get a good shocking outfit and drive around looking for deer and set them dogs up. Dont take to long for them to get the message.
