What the hell is so wrong with leaving it this way right here:
Johnson Telemetry collars
Wildlife Telemetry box along side with Tracker Maxima
Tri Tronics shock collars
Garmin DCwhatever GPS collars
and Garmin Astro blah blah for GPS box????
You know as soon as they combine everything the collars are gonna be made cheaper (quality not price) the boxes with be cheaper (again, same as collars)
Sorry, but id rather my dogs have 5 collars on them and know they are gonna be found then 2 collars that are made like cheap cheeseburgers. Besides, if a bear grabs your dogs neck, right now he is just gonna get a mouthful of TriTronics, Johnson, Garmin and Nite Lite yummyness!!!
Pretty sick of everyone tryin to reinvent the wheel, at least if they do this let those of us that wanna stay in the stone age send our stuff in and get it fixed.

i myself love the idea of the gps system. but i also ask myself when i purchased the very first wildlife materials systems made some thirty five years ago. was there ever a time when i thought i would be unable to locate my hounds? my answer is no. did i have some times when bounce or reflective signal gave me a fit? yes, but i learned how to run the equipment to minimize these problems. and at times it ment gettin of my lazy hind end and getting to a spot where i could pinpoint their location. now if those that use gps can honestly say they are 100% confident that they will always have signal and have it as long as they have battery life in their collars, than i guess you can answer your own doubts. as for me i hope good telemetry is always available.

Dad and I had a hound stolen by people we were hunting with in La Sal UT a long time ago. Took the collars off the dog and took off with her. Over 1 YEAR later dad and I finally walked in and got the collar, it was still working, had nothing wrong with it. When Garmin can do that and then some, I may consider putting only GPS on my dogs. Until then, I am perfectly fine if the only thing on them is an ID collar and a Johnson 217 tracker!!!

IF one of them was smart they'd buy the other out. I'd love to see the garmin 320 and the quicktrack 6000 combined into one with the best features of each.
