I have had two long range garmin antennas. one was the telescoping one. when I first got it it had about double the range of the stock antenna. I broke the antenna, and replaced the telescoping part with a radio shak one that also worked great. after a while it started not getting as good as the stock so I got the magnetic roof top one. it did great as well, but now gets less than my stock antenna. wtf?????????? what is happening to them?

This is great question. I have gone through two long range antenna's because they break so easy. I gets expensive replacing them. But that's still a lot cheaper than not having one and spending 2 days driving around looking for the dogs.

Allot of times the Pin in the middle of the connector slides out and doesn't make good connection.

It's Hard to explain but
I would try and grab the cable, and hold the connector and try and push the cable out of the connector. this should push that Wire our a little bit more and should start making good connection again.

I don't know if this is your problem, but I've seen it several times with several customers that are having the same problems you are.

It's a Cheap fix.. I should just Shut up and sell you another Antenna! ;)
