7-27-11 we got a 4inch rain at the hunting land. This was the biggest rain we have had all year Well I started thinking when I get off work I am going to try and sneak a little hunt in during the work week. I charged to the house loaded the dogs went in and changed closes. The temp had droped from 95 to 84 with a slight breeze I checked the game feed forcast the feed time started going up at 6:00 and would peak at 8:00 well it was 6:30 and my blood was up I had a itch that needed scratching. I planned on wateing till first dark whitch was 8:00 but I waited till 7 that was as long as I could wait All the way over to the land I thought where do I need to go first? Well I decided to go to the thickest place I had to hunt. This place I have been hunting since 1978 , cut my teeth on foxhunting right there. Something I have noticed over the years game crossings stay the same threw the years unless you change the land some how. Well the dirt road I was on tees right into a nother dirt road and all sides are very thick.Well when I pulled up going to let my 5 jump dogs empty out I didnot know I pulled right over where a big old tomcat had just crossed the road. I didnot get to go the week before so my dogs were excited just like I was. One of my best jump dogs is a snow white walker female named sugar. when she is excited sometimes she will bark 5or 6 times at the truck just out of excitement then she want say another word till she smells game . I tried to sickem in a trail which is in about 60 acers head of woods on that side of the road but she started doing that happy barking she wanted to go the other way well I scolded her and made her and the rest go in that trail. Well to please me she went in the trail but cut down the road and crossed over on the otherside and looked at me and barked 2or3 times and bolted in the woods on the other side of the road. About 30 seconds went by and she started up well dogs started covering her and this all happend so fast I could not believe it . I walked back to the truck and when I started to get in

the truck I saw the cat tracks I had parked right on top of where he had crossed, well by this time it was getting really heated up got my puppies turned out and sounded like mr. Tom was leaving out. Got the truck turned around and could hear that they were comming back, got out of the truck walked a way a few feet and tommy burst right by me and was bieng quick about it. If I had a dipnet I could of caught him he was that close. Well they ran the hair off of him for about 20 min then he pulled one of thier tricks It was about a 15 minuete lose then they found him again ran him another 15 min it was 82 degrees the cat had build a little lead and dogs hot the hummidity is awfull on dogs running but it was fun while it lasted. He is still ther for a nother day Please forgive my spelling .

Hey Robert, glad you had a good race. We hunted some this week, struck several, but didnt have any good races. We are getting showers pretty regular, but swamps, ponds and ditches are still pretty dry. some kinda hot. It'll get better. I'll hush now John
