just wondering what the biggest(record weight) black bear ever caught.i would like to see some pics of peoples monsters.i guess i can look up sci.but i want to see some monsters that houndsmen caught.ones that make your wonder it could climb a tree.lets see them time to brag .thanks Tom

Largest one in Maine to my Knowledge taken by hounds . It was bayed not treed weighed on cert scales 690 lbs . Not by us though My personal best has been 509 lbs . We have a lot of bears here but the ones 500 lbs + are few and far between .Too short of a "GROWING " season up here . Wght wise I would be looking for the Agricultural Bears coming out of Eastern North Carolina . Though they do get some bears in Penn. Every year that certainly get some size on them . I think Hound hunting for Bears in PENN. is NOT allowed though

This was our biggest bear ever treed, he weighed in at 465 lbs on a cattle scale.

He was a very young bear he was a problem bear at the dump that I was called out on. He was drinking 5 gallon buckets of grease from the stores, and had 6-7 inches of fat on him.

In 2007 we got a 605lb. in Me. with Laneys Guide Service. Had to bring scale into the woods and weigh in sections. Along with a couple of other guides for confirmation. Bear was shot on the ground with dogs.
In 2011 we got one on nuisance permit here in NY that weigh about 450 to 480. Dogs treed this bear on 3 seperate days while training. His last day the dogs bayed him on
the ground. No scale and skinned out in the woods. May have been a bit more.
The NY bear is the picture with me and my son.

I believe the former state record bear for NH was taken out of a tree at 550lbs or there abouts.

SCI #29 in the world 7'4 583lbs not bad for my buddy first bear hunt. That bear was real mean .

Here's a pic. of the biggest one I've killed Had it treed for a while and 3 young guys with me shot it with pistols at about 20 foot and it came down wounded and pissed at the world. I ran back to the road and jumped on 1 of the guys quads and as it was side hilling thru the brush and I heard it catch a dog but so I drove around the hill and when I shut off the quad I could tell the dogs had it stoped so I went in got it killed and let 1 of the young guys tag it. I don't know exactly what he weighed but the guy was a butcher and there was over 400 lbs of meat, no bones, fat, hide, or head. and 7 feet long. Mike

the biggest for NH is 552 lbs treed with four dogs two days before it was shot and with one dog the day he was shot.

the biggest i have taken personally was 456 pounds but i had my dogs on one that weighed 568 on certified scales and another one down east that was 605 on the scale.

Don't matter to me if your buying because I'm not selling, he happend to call last night about hunting with me again and I messed up it was 398 lbs. I thought it was a little over 4 but it was under. Mike
