Let them poop before you put them in the box.

We always stop and let them clean out after they have been in the box for a little while . Seems to prevent going in the box most of the time. Sometimes I drive an hour or so to hunting area, and I let them clean out when I get there. Works most of the time, not 100% all the time.

Its caused in most cases by excitement. So if that is the cause and not just a nasty habit. Letting them clean out before loading works for older dogs that know the signs of going hunting some young or slow dogs don't get excited at the house before a hunt. So driving a little then letting them out to clean out helps. Keep a eye on them and make sure they clean out before a trip in the box. Also as stated they aren't as likely to let loose in a small box. But its just easier to get them and you in the habit of cleaning out before you load up. Once the routine is established any new or young dogs should pick it up quick. I don't know if it helps but I like to keep the boxes clean.

Well in that case set it up so you can watch him in the box and every time he gets ready fry him. It might not make him quit but it will make you feel better cleaning it up. He may even spray hard enough it just sort a vaporizes. After awhile he may even dry up. I haul mine in a trailer a good deal more then in the box but I still don't like stepping in it. A nice morning ride isn't so nice when you keep getting the whiff of dog ass. I took a guy hunting once that was a bit of a. Well he ended up stepping in a pile not in the trailer but along the trail. He didn't clean his boots and climbed back on the horse and we where riding along and I noticed he had shit on his boot well I asked him if he hadn't noticed he said yeah well I figured it'll wear off. Now normally I would just think what a dirty slob. But those where my taps he was smearing that into. Well I guess it was a little thing but it got under my skin some and just pissed me off. I didn't care for the guy. Still don't. Well anyway we get a good one going and he bluffs up in a little canyon and you could ride right along the bottom of the rocks there just wasn't a whole lot of room to maneuver. I hope of and climb up a ways and set there trying to figure a better way up to where the lion was. Well he comes up there beside me and is smelling pretty ripe. My mood went south a little. Then I turn around and he's got shit smeared from his thigh right up to his chest. Well I felt better after that. I may even have smiled a little on the way back to the truck. Off topic I know but dog poop is dog poop.
