I heard next year they are going to do away with the drawing of non resident hound hunter permits, you will be able to buy one over the counter. If this is true, there are going to be some humped up Idaho hunters!

I don't see anything like that on the Idaho Fish and Game web site.

The source I heard it from is a good one, could be wrong though.

I think thats for coon hunting! not sure but i heard they were doing something with that! I don't believe they will do away with permits because of the houndmen and also the guides association has a big influence and that would really put stress on outfitters with concessions!

I heard it was for coon, but I can't find any sources online to back up what I've heard.

Currently they have laws requiring non-residents to specifically have a hound permit for coons. They also have code stating you do not need it for Predatory Wildlife. I believe it is their intentions to remove the requirement for coons. I haven't heard anything about eliminating the permits. I have been involved in this process over the last 6 months.

I heard that rumor too Cold Track.......I was told it was a done deal for next year. With nonresident hound doggers paying just south of $900 just in licenses and permits to chase both bear and lion, I figured it was part of a revenue enhancement program for the F&G. We'll see if it checks out.

A rumor is all it is.
Just talked with one of the commissioners.
He laughed & said it's amazing how these things get started.
It would have to go through them & he said it ain't happening.

I've been talking to biologists, commisioners, CO Supervisors, as well as others in the IDFG and the only discussion dealing with Hound Hunter permits refers to raccoons. I'd like to see a permit for competitions and the permit remain on coons but the indications are that they will remove it for raccoons. The bright side they said if enough of us want to keep it that way they would reconsider before moving forward.

yes bison is right we were going to start feild compitions and I had some qustions on caged coon and out of state people being apart and his words were {if it is only idaho people you can have you comp. but with out of state'ers there are other problems}
then he said {the bit about the coon being on the pred. list and that you can have a cage coon if you want but they still have the permits for 14 days and to stay on there good side it would be a good idea to fill one out but they are not requierd
and then he told me about the delima posted befor and how they were going to have a meeting on this same topic
