All I can say is the first day we found 2 old tracks, Tuesday it rained, Wednesday it rained then snowed, so thinking that the rain quite and a 1" of snow on the ground, Thursday was going to be the morning for bear hunting !! Well guess what nine hours of driving, riding 4 wheelers and walking some hounds! Not even one bear track. But back in September early season we run and treed in the same place! Maybe they just layed up!

Hunted w/some friends of mine on Pocahontas/Pendelton line Monday - we treed and killed 3 that day, smallest 120 biggest weighed 315 after dressed.
Tues/Wed - to much rain to hunt - no tracks
Thursday back to Nicholas County w/my group - we treed two, let them both go
Friday treed one and killed it, around 150lbs
Saturday - found tracks but all old
If this link works - this is a bear my Cracker dog and my buddy's Lacy dog treed on their own(Thursday), they treed it to fast to get any other dogs turned in, we took some dogs to the tree to keep it up.

Monday we treed one by 8:00am killed it, took the dogs off the tree and walked around the mountain dogs struck another track and had it treed before 11:00am . One weighted 164lbs. and the other weighted 300lbs. Man I figured we're going to have a good season being we did that good that early the first day , boy was I wrong . We haven't found a track since. And we've hunted 5 out of the 6 days. Had snow Thursday , Friday , and Saturday and still found no tracks. Think I'll go back to work.

Maybe the next couple of warm days might get them moving again. Who knows , I hope so I have been hunting a spot in Boone Kanawha county and their is no movement at all! At least where I hunt.i was thinking about relocating , maybe as far as Pocahontas for a couple days , but the guys I talk to that's hunting that part says they haven't done well neither , we have no mast and I guess other parts have the same problem.
